Where Do I Begin With Interior Design?

Before you can get into specific design-related questions, we first must understand, what interior design is.

What Do Interior Designers Do?
Interior designers are responsible for getting all the information they need for the type of room you are looking for. Since everybody has different interior design styles, the interior designer will ask you many questions to get as much detail as possible.
If you are looking for a modern interior design, the interior designer will shift their focus to that style. If you are looking for an Italian interior design, they will be gearing their focus towards that style.

How Long Does a Meeting With An Interior Designer Take?
The short answer: as much time as you need!
In an earlier section of this article, we went over how some people know exactly what they want and just want to meet with the interior designer to run through their proposed home interior design. According to Nancy at La-Z-Boy San Antonio, those who already know what they’re looking for typically have quicker meetings with her.
On the other hand, for customers who don’t know what they want yet and want to lean more on the guidance of our interior design experts, these meetings typically last a little longer. Since there will be more education involved in the meeting with a customer who doesn’t know exactly what they’re looking for, Nancy says that she likes to take the time with the customer to make them feel as comfortable as possible.
Ultimately, the length of the meeting with the interior designer will be up to you. If you only have 30 minutes, we will be done within 30 minutes. If you have a couple of hours and want to know as much as possible about the home interior design process, we will do that too. Nancy’s main goal is to “make you feel as comfortable as possible with the design and everything involved.”
How Long Is the Design Process?
The duration of the design process will depend on multiple different factors.
For example, some individuals are looking for a total room makeover. When there is a total room makeover, spaces will need to be measured, certain furniture will need to be brainstormed, and the designer will need to take their time to make the beautiful design idea come to fruition.
On the other hand, some individuals are looking for one specific idea. For example, if you are looking to add a living room rug to the room, this process will not take as long. Depending on what you need, the process can take anywhere from hours to weeks.

How Much Does An Interior Designer Cost?

If you are able to come to the store, you will get to enjoy the advantages of experiencing the furniture for yourself.
Coming into the store gives you the ability to sit on the furniture yourself. To Nancy’s point, furniture fits everybody differently. The only way you will know if the furniture you have an interest in fits you well from a comfort standpoint is to come into the store and sit in it.
