1. Pick your Fall Color Palette

Pick a color palette for your Fall/Thanksgiving setting. For example, you can choose two neutral colors and add 1 vibrant color to add a pop of color.

You can pick 3 to 5 Colors. If you choose to go with 3 colors, remember the 60-30-10 rule. This means that 60% should be your primary color, 30% of this color should be your secondary color and finally, 10% should be the accented color.

Using a bigger palette will allow you to add complementary colors to give yourself more hues to work with.

For Fall 2023, instead of pumpkin oranges, we will be seeing softer, lighter, dulled-down oranges and muted peachy tones. Other fall colors that will be popular are browns, beige, brick red, sage green, and honey gold.

2. Adding Fall Elements

Add elements that will create that look for fall. You can add fall foliage such as garlands, wreaths, baskets, small fruits and veggies, and gourds.

3. Themed Accents

Add themed accents such as pumpkins, but use the same accent to tie everything together.

For example, if you are using a large gourd as the anchor for the rest of your centerpiece, you can add smaller ones throughout your space to keep it consistent or even pull color from what you are seeing and make that repetitive.

4. Textures

Add different textures by mixing different patterns and textiles.

Think of layers, like adding knits and flannel patterns with fall colors and neutral tones.

Keep in mind that you want a small, medium, and large pattern.

Keeping the same patterns will make your overall look clash.

5. Scent

Set the mood with a fall scent. Smell is one of the strongest memory triggers. Pumpkins, cinnamon spices, and apples give you that warm reminiscence of autumn.

Imagine walking into a beautiful home decorated for the fall and smelling something sweet and cozy coming from your oven like Pumpkin pie.

Candles, also, give off that welcoming glow and add coziness to your space.
