What Is the Extended Service Program At La-Z-Boy?
Sometimes referred to as an extended furniture warranty, La-Z-Boy’s extended service program is a comprehensive one. Unlike the typical 1-year manufacturer warranty plan, our extended service program covers your furniture for 3 or 5 years. It covers everything from drink spillage, chipped legs, and even faulty springs.
Imagine this: You just got your new La-Z-Boy recliner and before you can even enjoy it, your children accidentally crack the front left leg because they were rough-housing around the recliner. Now the recliner is either unstable or the leg is an eye sore. With the extended service program, you are covered for that, and we will also send a trained technician out to your home to repair the furniture free of charge.
With the in-home repair, it is important to note that it is only free for the first 90 days. If there is an issue that needs to be resolved a year in, we are more than happy to either bring the furniture into our shop to get the issue repaired or still come out to your home, but there will be a service charge. The charges would include parts and labor, and if you want somebody to come to your home there will be a trip fee.
What Does the Extended Service Program Cover?
Now that we know what exactly the extended warranty plan is, we need to learn about what the plan covers. Having an understanding of what the extended warranty plan covers is a big factor to learn before making a decision on whether the plan is worth it to you.
As we discussed earlier, we at La-Z-Boy are committed to customer service and satisfaction. We take much pride in our hand-crafted furniture, so we would be falling short of that commitment in this extended warranty plan if we did not cover any issues within the structure or functionality of the furniture.
This means that anything we constructed is covered in the warranty plan. Anything ranging from faulty springs, metal damage, or failing mechanisms will be covered in the extended warranty plan. For example, if you were to purchase a recliner chair and the reclining mechanism has failed, this will be covered in the plan. Not only are the springs, metal, and mechanisms covered in the official duration of the plan, but those are covered for life.
Not only does it cover anything related to the construction of the furniture, but the extended warranty plan will also cover a range of in-home accidents. Common accidents such as spilled food or drink damaging the design and reckless kids damaging the framework of the furniture will be covered through the duration of the warranty plan you elect.
What Does the Extended Service Program Not Cover?
It is just as important to know what the extended warranty plan doesn’t cover as it is to know what it does cover. This information will help determine if the plan will be worth it or not to you.
The extended warranty plan does not cover any acts of God or catastrophes such as floods or fires. It also does not cover vandalism or misuse of the furniture. It will also not cover body or hair oil damage, hair products, dye, or bleach.
Aside from acts of God or misuse, there is one last thing that the extended warranty plan does not cover. As Greg Watts at La-Z-Boy San Antonio De Zavala put it, furniture is not covered by “jaws, claws or paws.” In other words, the plan does not cover damage caused by pets.
How Much Does the Extended Service Program Cost?
Along with understanding what the plan does and doesn’t cover, another major factor in determining whether the extended warranty plan is worth it to you is knowing the cost of it.
Rather than a monthly or yearly payment, the cost of the plan is factored into the final cost of the furniture you purchase. The exact cost will vary depending on the cost of the furniture you choose, but the extended service program adds 10% of the final cost if you opt to go with the 3-year plan.
Unlike the 3-year warranty plan, the 5-year service program will increase your final purchase by 15%. So if your furniture selection costs $4,000, your final cost with the 3-year program would increase to $4,400, or $4,600 with the 5-yearprogram.
What happens if I get the extended service program and nothing happens within the time frame?
One of the reasons La-Z-Boy has lifetime customers is because of our commitment to customer service and satisfaction. We believe that if you elect to go with the extended warranty plan, you should get a return on that investment one way or another.
If you get the extended service program on your La-Z-Boy furniture and you don’t need to use it within that 3 or 5-year time frame, you will not be left empty-handed. La-Z-Boy South Texas will send you a 10% credit of the cost of your furniture for you to use at a La-Z-Boy South Texas store in the future!
Essentially what the credit does is when you come back into a La-Z-Boy store, you will be able to use this credit on another purchase at the store. If you are looking to pair your recliner with a sectional or sofa, you will be able to use that credit on your purchase. So, if your credit was worth $150, you will get $150 off your next sofa or sectional!
Who Do I Call If I Need Repair?
If you do encounter an unforeseen problem with your furniture that you need to have repaired, it can be frustrating on many different levels. Obviously, the issue itself is frustrating, but it is also frustrating to have to reach out to a 1-800 hotline that is outsourced by a different company just to get your issue resolved.
